Dental veneers give you an award-winning smile and also offer a layer of protection for your teeth. Made from either a composite or porcelain material, they can restore a chipped or discolored tooth and lengthen shorter teeth. Veneers take about two appointments to install.
Are Veneers Right For You?
During your initial appointment, Dr. Rosenfeld will craft a plan that is right for you. Dental veneers are a great alternative if whitening solutions haven’t had a great deal of success for you. Additionally, veneers are a great alternative to braces and other alignment procedures if you have tightly spaced teeth.
Veneers will be a great fit for you if:
- You’ve not had a lot of success with other types of whitening treatments.
- Some of your teeth are shorter because of normal wear and tear.
- Alignment treatments don’t work because your teeth are spaced too closely together.
A Painless Path to the Perfect Smile
The process starts with cleaning and local anesthesia. Dr. Rosenfeld will shape your teeth so that the veneer fits seamlessly. Only a little bit of your tooth surface will be stripped to help protect your natural tooth structure. Then, an impression will be taken of the tooth.
Temporary veneers will then be placed upon the stripped teeth while the permanent fittings are created at a dental lab. Generally, this process takes about two weeks. At your next visit, Dr. Rosenfeld will use a cementing compound to make sure that your new veneers fit perfectly.
Caring For Your Perfect Smile
After your veneers are fitted, there are a few precautions that you need to take to protect your perfect smile:
- Cut up hard foods, especially apples, carrots, and celery.
- Be careful with foods that contain seeds (like watermelon).
- Use caution when playing contact sports and exercising – a mouth guard is a great idea.
Additionally, keep brushing and flossing. Good dental hygiene goes a long way towards preventing tooth decay. Rinsing will also help keep your teeth clean in those hard-to-reach places. Emphasis on a good diet will help keep those veneers lasting longer. When drinking coffee, soda, or wine, use a straw to minimize contact with your teeth.
