You may be wondering what to do about your dental care while we’re in the midst of a world-wide health crisis. You certainly won’t be the only one trying to figure all of this out. After all, staying home as much as possible is the safest thing, in most cases. But what about those things that can’t be put off? And is dentistry one of them?
An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure
There are a multitude of adages that all say the same thing: getting something fixed early can save a lot of time and effort down the road. When it comes to dental care, we couldn’t agree more.
That’s why we suggest checkups at least twice a year. We take x-rays regularly, and we do a thorough cleaning of your teeth, when you come in. All of this is designed to save your teeth from future decay, damage, or pain.
Dental issues aren’t always easy to spot, in their early stages. Sometimes, the pain of a toothache or a visible stain is a sign that the damage has already spread widely. Regular checkups aren’t just recommended, but necessary for catching these issues much sooner than you can on your own.
The sooner we can spot something, the easier it is to fix!
What About the Pandemic? Is a Dental Appointment a Good Idea?
You’re right to ask questions. Covid-19 has affected the entire world in a way that few things have. And considering the way Covid seems to spread, avoiding the dentist at all costs seems like a completely natural reaction.
However, we believe that this may cause more harm than good. As mentioned above, dental issues are hard to spot from home, in their early stages. The amount of damage that can happen with untreated gum disease or a cavity that isn’t filled can be detrimental to your wellbeing.
In order to provide you the essential healthcare you deserve with minimum risk, we have put in place several safety measures:
Personal Protection Equipment | We stay completely up to date on health code matters. We will be wearing medical grade masks and gloves. We will wash up regularly, and we are especially cautious in cleaning our equipment. We even have several high-quality air cleaners to provide a “surgically clean” air turnover every ten minutes.
Patient Policies | We have implemented a number of strict policies for those who enter our office. These include a mandatory temperature check, a maximum of two patients in the office at a time, virtual check-in from the car, and the use of both hand and oral disinfectants.
With these policies in place, our dental office is as safe as it can possibly be.
